History

Sacred Heart Academy started as a Sunday Catechism school in La Loma founded by Mrs. Luisa Kierulf in 1947. A fervent devotee of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Mrs. Kierulf named the school Sacred Heart Academy of La Loma (SHALL). From its humble beginnings it grew to become an institution of learning offering pre-school, elementary, junior and senior high school. It is this passion to continue this legacy that inspired one of Mrs. Kierulf's sons, Mr. Jose Antonio Kierulf and his wife Cristina Kierulf, to establish Sacred Heart Academy of Pasig (SHAP).

SHAP's initial year (2000) opened with a total of 200 students with 13 faculty members. SHAP became a word of mouth in the community of Pasig because of the many exciting academic activities and the fact that it was being hailed as an English speaking school. Significant increases in student population necessitated the construction of additional classrooms and other facilities. In 2019, SHAP's student population reached more than 2,600 students. A true testament of the trust and confidence of the community to SHAP’s vision and mission, objectives and academic policies.

High school graduates were consistently making it to the top colleges and universities in the country. SHAP gained international status in 2003. The Center for English Language was re-established to accommodate the increasing number of international students. The Student Activity Program was enhanced and students were exposed to inter-school competitions in the field of sports, writing, quiz bee and debate/public speaking which brought forth laurels to the school, as well as the staging of musical plays. DepEd approved SHAP’s K-12 Senior High School program paving the way for the construction of the Senior High building that housed the new library, two outdoor courts, a professional kitchen, three tablet hubs, four robotics laboratories, music room, T.H.E. lab and a MAPEH multi-purpose hall.

The new normal ushered in SHAP's Hybrid Educational System to meet the diversified learning needs of our students thus adhering to our collective credence that learning must continue and that no student should be left behind. SHAP has become a premier learning institution in Pasig, hence, the students and parents can look forward to a brighter future for SHAP in terms of the Curriculum/Instruction, Faculty, Administration, Student Activity Program, Student Services and Facilities.

As a school of the future, SHAP remains steadfast in its commitment to facilitate the formation of the youth who will eventually shape the country’s future and ultimately become useful, responsible and productive global citizens.
